This little guy knows what it's like to stand out in a crowd - he may be the world's only black flamingo.

The rare bird was spotted last week among his pink family on the banks of a lake in Cyprus, Reuters reports.

His coloring - all black except for a small tuft of white feathers on his behind - is a result of melanism, a genetic condition that causes him to make extra pigment.

"A melanistic individual is a very, very rare sighting ... basically it's the opposite of an albino," Pantelis Charilaou, head of the environmental department of the British Sovereign Bases, told Reuters.

There's only been one other recent sighting of a black flamingo, in Israel in 2014, and experts think he might have been the same one who showed up in Cyprus.
