World's Happiest Coyote Steals A Ball To Play Fetch By Himself

Life for animals in the wild is often depicted as being a constant, bitter struggle for survival. But it turns out there's still plenty of time for horsing around.

Over the weekend, YouTube user Evnissyen ran across this charming little scene while getting ready for work. On a hill in the distance, a creature who could aptly be described as the world's happiest coyote was spotted enjoying a lively game he'd apparently just invented - solo fetch, with a stolen ball, no less.

"It's pretty rare to see a coyote this close to the house at all, and totally unexpected to see one playing with the neighbour-dog's ball in broad daylight!" wrote Evnissyen.

This isn't the first time a wild canine has discovered the joy of playing with an unsuspecting dogs's stuff.

A couple of years back, we told you about a little Chihuahua named Lupe who had one of her cherished toys commandeered by a fox, who proceeded to prance around the front yard with it. Footage from that incident shows her watching from the window, yapping at the happy thief in vain.

It should be noted that in areas where coyotes may be out on the prowl, the Humane Society of the United States recommends keeping pets inside for their own safety - but these animals, sadly, still have much to fear about us. Coyotes continue to be trapped in the wild and a stripped of their fur, which is then used as lining for winter wear by popular clothing makers, like Canada Goose.
