The machines are coming... to win your dog's affection?
While it's true that science has proven pets really can love just being around their owners, having a handful of tasty morsels certainly doesn't hurt. But if inventors of a new game console for dogs have their way, humans' long monopoly on doling out treats may soon be coming to an end.
Instead of sweetly rolling over, or cordially shaking their owner's hand on command for the reward of food, dogs using a new invention called CleverPet will earn treats simply by pressing a button. Its creators tout the console as a learning device to keep canines occupied and entertained while their owners are away, engaging them to disway negative behavior through a progressively more complex series of steps.
"Many dogs left alone at home are bored and unengaged, which can lead to separation anxiety and costly destructive behavior," says the product's Kickstarter page.
