Watch: Hawaiian Monk Seal Fends Off Rude Beachcombers

A group of Hawaiian beachgoers found out why it's never a good idea to pose with large carnivores. As the below video shows, when a would-be photographer gets too close to a napping monk seal, the animal suddenly turns and snaps at him.
A child also "lay down beside the seal and put his arm around it," Hawaii's Civil Beat reports, and the endangered seal "tried to bite him and the kid ran away."
Hawaiian monk seals are rare -- and there are even fewer than previously thought. Disturbing the seals carries hefty fines and potential time in prison. Seal selfies simply aren't worth it.
