Video: Giant Fish Tank Bursts At Disney World Resort

The undersea-motif at a cafe in Orlando's Downtown Disney resort was made a bit more believable yesterday as a large indoor fish tank burst, flooding the dining area and sending patrons scrambling.

"There was a lot of commotion. The whole section just sort of went crazy," Kate Wallace, who was sitting about 20 feet away from the tank, told the Orlando Sentinel. "The staff -- they were doing the best job that they could. It was craziness. Just kind of people freaking out. It's not something that you see very often. How do you respond to that?"

Another diner, Michael Pappas, said that waiters acted quickly, climbing inside the leaking tank to scoop out the fish, all of which are believed to have survived the incident unscathed.

Witnesses say that the leak appeared to be coming from a busted seam, though in the fanciful world of talking mice, dogs and ducks, one could easily imagine the fish themselves had a fin in the incident.

Interestingly, while few in the animal-rights community are vocal against keeping fish in captivity, Disney's own Finding Nemo suggests that confining fish is cruel. A major plot point in the film centers on the title character working to escape confinement by sabotaging his tank, allowing him to escape back to into ocean.
