Geez, what does a tortoise gotta do to get a little privacy around here? Chase those gawking buggers off, that's what.

A giant tortoise was just trying to enjoy a tender moment with his gal on Assumption Island in the Seychelles when, wouldn't you know it, a pesky film crew thought it would be a good idea to creep up on them with their cameras rolling.

Pshh.

Well, as you might expect, the old boy was none too pleased with the interruption.

National Geographic explorer Paul Rose writes that he and his colleagues were drawn to the spot by the grunting sound of tortoises in the throes of passion, describing their mating as a "beautiful thing to witness." But apparently being witnessed was not so cool for the cozy couple.

Being a chivalrous sort of tortoise, the male decided to pursue those unwelcome spectators, slowly but steadily.

Perhaps the offended tortoise knew that he'd have a hard time catching up with the fleshy creatures who had disturbed his sexy time, but that didn't keep him from trying.

"I assumed that he would get close and then back off once he realized that he was up against two wonderful specimens at the top of the food chain," writes Rose. "But there was absolutely no stopping him - he got close, very close, close enough that his snorting and spitting plus the look in his enraged eyes above his snapping powerful beak made us retreat in a panic."

Footage from the incident shows the unrelenting animal giving chase, spurring the film crew into slow retreat for breaking bro code. Although he never was able to deliver the painful nip he might have been hoping for, the tortoise's message was still received loud and clear by Rose:

"The male's fierce response to our presence nearby also reminds me to never, ever interrupt a mating session!"
