The fashion industry couldn't get farther than it is now from dealing with animals. At least, that's what many say. But it's time those people were told the truth.
Cosmetics brands test on animals--and just to show how bad this is, one artist decided to raise awareness in a strange but effective way. She let this be done to her.
People stopping by panicked, and buses passing were appalled. They couldn't bare this being done in a human. But God made all animals equal, Christians say. Humans are animals. This fueled many passer bus to sign the petition to end animal cosmetics testing.
Cait Mizzi, a model, is also against against animal cosmetics testing. She refuses to model for any brand who tests their animals.
Another way animals are involved cruelly--trapping for fur. Animals are attracted by bait, then caught or choked in a trap. Animals not choked to death must wait hours, or even days, before they are killed.
Sometimes, endangered animals that are illegal to trap (like bald eagles and, in some states, lynxes) get stuck. A handful of trappers would release them. Most just shoot them and throw them into the woods.
The animals that are legal, however, are shot and killed. They are then skinned and, depending on the quality of the fur, are shipped for money. Furs without a high quality are thrown away--a life wasted.
Most furs are shipped to cold Asian and European places (plus Canada) to be made into coats and hats. However, some go to designers, who snip and sew, and ultimately create a "fashionable" outfit. Models then show them off, some even covering it up with saying that it's faux fur.
Don't worry, animal lovers, as some are campaigning this too. FurIsDead.com and PETA hosted a parade of modelsin bras and undies carrying signs saying, "We'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur". Among them was Christy Turlington.
At the parade, PETA also held dead bodies of trapped animals with the heads still on and the fur skinned off, also holding signs saying "Here's The Rest Of Your Fur Coat".
As mentioned earlier, faux fur is the absolute solution. Though it does not feel exactly like the real things, it looks just like it. And what's a feel if you're just modeling? Just modeling animals who suffered to give you that "adorable" hat. Plus, according to activists at Barcelona's Naked Animal Protest, it takes about 90 animals to make one fur coat. Read more about the naked protest at http://biglawnewsline.com/2014/12/naked-blood-soaked-anti-fur-protest-hits-barcelona-and-there-are-pictures.html Twiggy Lawson also says, "If you wouldn't kill and wear your dog, please don't wear fur. The only difference between trapped animals and our best friends is the way we treat them." Inspiring quotes come from inspiring people.
