Last week, a tabby cat, now dubbed "The Superhero Cat," became an overnight sensation and an international animal celebrity for her quick acting display of bravery. Due to what has been described as a "selfless" attempt to protect her family member -- a four year old boy named Jeremy -- she became a star.
The tabby, named "Tara," warded off an intruding neighborhood dog who was attacking young Jeremy Triantafilo from Bakersfield, California. Tara may have saved the boy's life. Ultimately, Jeremy sustained bite wounds to his extremities and required as many as 10 sutures.
In video footage that has gone viral, one can see the cat darting at very high speed to the scene, making contact with the dog in what looks to be aggressive, and protective behavior. The cat successfully scared off the canine threat, before he could further injure the boy.
Tara has become such a hero that she was invited to throw out the first pitch at a minor league baseball game. Her owners have been inundated with interviews by network media outlets.
Even, the Cat Whisperer Mieshelle Nagelschneider has shared her sentiment, unofficially nicknaming "The Super Hero Cat" -- "Tara the Tiger." Nagelschneider said, "Tara's behavior does seem very superhero-like, but it's actually instinctual behavior just like tigers display in the wild -- aggression ignited by a particular purpose like protecting their young or defending territory."
