An abandoned pit bull mix is now recovering and looking for a home after a group of teenagers rescued her from the side of the road over the weekend. Just moments after 15-year-old Mohanad Abozaid and his friends watched an unidentified person toss the mutt from a car window in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, the teens ran over to help and, together, saved the dog's life.
"I got my check and went to the dollar store and I bought her a chain," Abozaid to My Fox Philly. "It's against my religion to touch them or anything like that but I'm not going to let a dog die because of something like that."
Abozaid and his friends chipped in to buy the dog a leash, some food and a bowl, before helping her find a temporary home with a local woman. Cheryl Rosenthal, who has volunteered to care for the dog -- who she's calling Queenie -- said she thinks the abandoned mutt might also be a new mom.
"I think she's been chained up somewhere and used to just have babies so they can use the dogs to be fighting dogs or whatever they do," Rosenthal said. "She's wonderful. Look at her. She's just so sweet. She hasn't barked once."
Neither Rosenthal nor Abozaid can adopt Queenie themselves, but they are looking to find the dog a new home.
