Global Campaign To End Cosmetic Animal Testing Adds Taiwanese Starpower

Television and music stars in Taiwan are the latest celebrities to join the #BeCrueltyFree campaign's call for a ban on cosmetics testing on animals. Taiwanese singer and entertainment hostess Aya, well-known actor Junior, and actress Lisa Wang, have come together to launch an exciting video on behalf of the #BeCrueltyFree campaign calling on Taiwan to change the law and ban cosmetics cruelty.

The stars' support comes as #BeCrueltyFree Taiwan today joined with Legislator Wang Yu-ming in Taipei to launch a bill in Parliament seeking to make cosmetics animal testing illegal. Cosmetics animal tests such as eye irritancy and oral toxicity are still permitted by Taiwan's regulations, but Legislator Wang and the #BeCrueltyFree campaign are seeking a law change that, if successful, will not only outlaw such testing inside Taiwan but also the sale of cosmetics newly animal tested outside the country.

Aya, Junior and Lisa Wang join the #BeCrueltyFree hall of fame alongside celebrities from around the world who have helped Humane Society International speak out on behalf of animals in laboratories. We are so grateful to our star supporters who go out of their way to be a voice for the voiceless - together they have tweeted for us, taken selfies, modelled #BeCrueltyFree t-shirts, donned bunny ears, cuddled up to rabbits, blogged, vlogged, launched poster campaigns, starred in eye-catching videos, lobbied politicians with us face to face, and stood shoulder to shoulder with us as we've launched bills to end cosmetics animal suffering.

In launching his #BeCrueltyFree support, Taiwanese actor Junior said:

"Cosmetic animal testing is not only inhumane, subjecting the animal to a lot of pain, but the test results are not reliable because animals can have different reactions than humans to the same chemicals. All over the world countries are moving forward with bans on animal testing of cosmetics, so Taiwan must become the next country to #BeCrueltyFree as soon as possible."

We say, well said Junior and thanks for being a #BeCrueltyFree hero for animals.
