When 16-year-old Abby Putterill adopted a mopane squirrel that was found injured and abandoned at the Bally Vaughan Wildlife Sanctuary in Zimbabwe -- owned by her parents -- she knew their bond would be close. But, reports Metro UK, their bond is even closer than anyone expected:
Her mother Debbie Putterill said: ‘One day he was playing with Abby and he managed to crawl into her hair. He seemed to make himself at home and still does it now. ‘We've never had a squirrel do this before and it's really quite funny to see but he's happy enough to lie there and watch the world go by.'
The two are pretty much inseparable now, and the squirrel -- named Hammy -- can still be found taking a snooze in Putterill's ponytail.
