Just as a metal tablet marks the spot where the Wright brothers first took off, and plaques left behind by lunar explorers commemorate the moon landings, a new monument of sorts is paying tribute to yet another famous flight - the ride a weasel took atop a woodpecker.

The risk-taking little weasel took the internet by storm earlier this year after an amateur photographer snapped a shot of the intrepid predator's unlikely flight. Now, thanks to a sign someone installed near the park in England where it all went down, that furry pilot's airborne adventure won't soon be forgotten.

It's worth mentioning that the flight was hardly a friendly affair. The weasel, in all likelihood, was hoping to make a meal out of the woodpecker, but he crash-landed shortly after the photo was taken and was able to give his hungry rider the slip.
