A tiny squirrel who had recently been abandoned by her mother got chilly on Tuesday night as she was wandering around alone in the UK. So, naturally, she went to put on the warmest thing she could find: a wool coat. Except it was a wool coat that actually belonged to a live sheep named Max.
"I thought it was rat and stepped back, but took another look and saw it was a squirrel," Max's owner, Liz Dilworth, told the BBC. "It was a cold evening and [the squirrel] had obviously come out of a nest and that was the only place it could find to snuggle in and try and get warm ... Max has got a very thick fleece and he didn't mind in the slightest."
Dilworth contacted a nearby animal shelter, the Wildlives Rescue Center, which will care for the young squirrel for the next several months as needed. According to a Wildlives representative, the "little kit" is getting along well with the 11 other squirrels in the center's care.
