Dog Is Hit By Car ... Then Stuck Underneath It For 2 Hours
This little dog has certainly earned her new name - Miracle spent two hours caught in the bumper of a car after it hit her on a Nova Scotia road last week.
The young man who was driving the car thought he had hit an animal, but when he got out to check, he couldn't see one on the road. That's because 1-year-old Miracle was stuck in his bumper.
For the next two hours, she was trapped under the car as it whizzed along the highway. But miraculously, she survived the ordeal with "not one broken bone in her little body ... not even a toenail," Shelley Cunningham, president of Halifax rescue Litters 'n Critters, told The Dodo.
As soon as the driver discovered her, Miracle was rushed to an animal hospital, and then released into the rescue group's care.
"She's our little miracle," Cunningham said. "For a dog to survive over two hours stuck in the bumper of a car is amazing."
Miracle needed surgery for the lacerations on her head and face - but she's already recovering in a loving foster home.
"She's so gentle, she's so kind, she's so loving," Cunningham said. "She's a licking machine." Miracle will stay with the same foster family until she's fully recovered and can be put up for adoption.
A dog massage therapist and an acupuncturist have already offered to donate their services to helping her heal.
But for now, things are looking up for Miracle. "She's just doing absolutely wonderfully," Cunningham said.
