Happy National Pet Day! It's a good day to be a pet -- and with all of the recent positive pet news, it's time to celebrate.
First, word broke that Americans spent a record $56 billion on pet food, veterinary care, and other pet products -- nearly twice what was spent in 1996.
What's more, people are feeding their pets quality food, according to Quartz, which reported this week that nearly 80% of U.S. pet owners are as concerned about the quality of their pet's food as as they are of their own.
Americans now share their homes with more dogs than ever -- an estimated 83 million -- and it's time to give our furry friends a little recognition.
