Video Shows Heartbreak Of Pit Bull Who's Running Out Of Time

An 8-year-old pit bull named Luck has somehow survived two months at a shelter - but sadly, he may not be lucky for much longer.

Luck's owner abandoned him at the Baldwin Park Shelter in California on July 27.

A volunteer recently videotaped him in his cage, and his reaction is heartbreaking. He moves closer to the bars, just wanting to be pet. When she stops, he tries to inch closer so that she'll start petting him again. Clearly, all this sweet guy wants is to be loved.

Luck passed his temperament test with flying colors, and would make the perfect companion. He just needs someone to take a chance on him.

Sadly, pit bulls are often not kept at shelters long before being euthanized. They're an extremely stereotyped breed, and it's estimated that as many as 75 percent of municipal shelters euthanize pit bulls right away. The fact that Luck has lasted two months is a miracle in itself, and a testament to how much he is loved by staff and volunteers. Despite his name, this guy's luck will run out soon if he can't find his forever home.

If you or someone you know would be interested in adopting Luck, you can contact the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center at 626-430-2378.
