True dog lovers know that our furry friends only get better with age - but some terrible person decided that Teddy, an aging pug, should be tossed out like trash.

Twelve-year-old Malory Steiner, of Royalton, New York, was outside of her family's home when she saw an SUV drive by and toss a garbage bag out onto the street.

"The bag started walking down the road. I saw that it was starting to rip and it was around his neck," Malory told local station WKBW.

Inside the bag was Teddy - a senior pug with a graying muzzle, whose owners had clearly decided that they were going to toss him out like trash.

Malory called over her family to help and they got Teddy out of the bag and safely into the care of nearby Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue.

The rescue has taken over Teddy's care, but he's in pretty bad shape. He has new injuries from being tossed out of the car, as well as older issues, including a bad case of mange.

Despite all the terrible things that have happened to him, Teddy is a super snuggly dog. "In true pug fashion he is so sweet and loving," the rescue posted on its Facebook page. "Let's all work together to give this guy a much deserved new life."

Animal control is still searching for the people who dumped Teddy, but his rescuers are focused on getting him the care he needs and making sure his old age is everything he deserves.
