Adorable Lynx Kittens Get Vaccinated

I think it would be a pretty difficult task if I had to suddenly name my favorite wild animal. There are just so many variables involved within that type of question. Given all the options we have, I think that most folks would be pretty hard-pressed to come up with an answer right on the spot.

I find great white sharks to be absolutely fascinating, being that they are simply just cunning killing machines and, in my opinion, the scariest thing nature has to offer us at this moment in history. Let us never speak of their long-extinct ancestor, megalodon, ever again.

Then we have the animals that are cute and more of an obvious choice, like the red panda, the sloth and the pygmy marmoset -- all adorable, and definite contenders for my most beloved creature.

But we also have to remember the less conventional contestants out for my affection. A prime example being the tardigrade (also known as a waterbear) which is so alien-like that they have a spot in my top-ten based solely on their cool looks. Well, that and the fact that they are so badass that they can survive essentially any extreme condition that may befall them here on Earth, and have even survived being in space.

But, I suppose if I was really pressured and had to give an answer right here, on the spot -- otherwise my entire record collection would be burned before my eyes -- I would have to go with the lynx. And more specifically, the Canadian lynx.

There's just so much to love about these adorable kitties! Their huge paws, stubby tails and those little tufts of hair on their ears make them irresistible. They're also incredible hunters who either stalk and then pounce on their prey, or lie in wait for their next meal to absentmindedly walk on by.

In this video by NatGeoWild, we take a trip to the Yukon and watch a few lynx kittens get corralled so Dr. Oakley can give them a physical exam, microchip and administer their vaccinations.

These cute little guys are Canadian lynxes, but there are three more species around the globe, including the Eurasian, Iberian and -- a surprise to me -- the North American bobcat.

This clip is from the Nat Geo show, Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet which airs on Saturdays at 9PM EST.
