Gertjie, a rescued rhino calf living at a sanctuary in South Africa, was orphaned when his mother was killed by poachers. But he was taken to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, where he was rehabilitated and is gaining strength. Now, he's got a new friend to keep him company, who is much more fun than the old rock he used to play with.

Rhino poaching is rampant in South Africa. In 2013, over 1,000 rhinos were killed for their horns in the country. See this page for more information about rhino poaching and how to help end it.
