Kitten Saved From Hurricane Wears Tiny Sock To Keep Warm

You don't always need to give the shirt off your back to come to the aid of an animal in need - sometimes just a sock will do.

Twitter user @crysomemore sent the internet into a tizzy over the weekend after sharing the heartwarming story of a kitten rescued during Hurricane Matthew, and the garment that helped her through it.

A Good Samaritan had discovered the tiny pet just as the storm passed through North Carolina, and brought her to the safety of PetSmart's Banfield Pet Hospital, in Raleigh. There, the kitten got the care she needed to recover after her close call - including being given a tube sock, modified with two armholes, for her to wear like a little sweater.

(@crysomemore was so smitten, she got the name of the pet store wrong in her original tweet.)

But the kitten's story doesn't end there.

As @crysomemore reveals later in an updated post, a family arrived to the store shortly after and, when introduced to the kitten by a vet tech, they decided to give her a forever home.

"They bought this hilariously huge and fancy litter box and they were all extra excited so I think Tube Sock Sweater Kitten is in good hands," she wrote online.
