Puppies are adorable, and they make us happy. There are some cute puppy pictures, however, that might secretly not be so cute.

A Reddit user posted a photo of two puppies hugging each other - in a glass enclosure at a pet store. The puppies are snuggly and adorable, and many commenters pointed out the obvious. Others, however, were a little more skeptical:

"But on a serious note for a moment. Buying dogs from pet stores is unethical, it's statistically near 100% probable that those two little tykes came from a filthy puppy farm and had a nightmarish existence no doubt. Don't support pet stores until some serious ethics laws are enforced around them." - Reddit/g43tg43g3g34g"Nothing aww about puppies in a pet store because they have the shadow of their parents suffering at the hands of puppy mill operations hanging over them." - Reddit/Moos_Mumsy"Adopt don't shop." - Reddit/Mr. Gentleman Many puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills, where dogs are treated like products rather than living, breathing beings. Dogs at these mills are often kept in stacked wire cages, in spaces that are required to be no more than six inches longer than them on all sides, and female breeding dogs are repeatedly impregnated until they are no longer useful.
