As you may know, Texas was recently slammed with severe storms and intense flooding. I'm relieved to report that everything is well here at the sanctuary in Dilley, Texas, and we came through the recent horrendous weather with no significant damage to life or property. We did have some fencing issues due to high winds, which required immediate repair, but staff took care of it quickly and efficiently.
We ended up receiving more than 12 inches of rain in a two-week period with almost five inches in just a few hours. (For comparison, our normal annual rainfall is 22 inches.) Though the stream our road crosses was flooded and unpassable, we were prepared with extra water and had fortified an emergency route out the north side of the property.
