Pet Store 'Embarrassed' After Posting This Sign
Pets are not meant to be presents or material possessions - but one pet store accidentally insinuated exactly that.
Jollyes Petfood Superstores in the U.K. posted a sign in one of their stores that has gone viral on social media. The sign states, "Pets make great Christmas presents!" and goes on to talk about the logistics of purchasing a pet as a gift.
Often times when pets are given as gifts, the person receiving the pet is unprepared to care for them, and that sweet dog or cat ends up at a shelter, homeless once more.
As soon as the sign went up the store received hundreds of complaints, and they soon issued an apology: "Jollyes has been in business for over 40 years and in all that time it has promoted responsible pet ownership. This was clearly an unauthorized, individual and isolated event which we do not endorse whatsoever."
A long time customer of Jollyes Petfood Superstores posted to their wall and said that the sign would not deter her from their stores, and that she was simply happy that this all had the best possible outcome.
Luckily this store was able to see the error of its ways and use it as a teaching moment to educate pet lovers everywhere.
