Koalas are easily one of the most cuddly-looking creatures on the planet, seeming to love nothing more than nibbling on eucalyptus leaves or catching some z's on a shady tree branch. But as a recent video shows, beneath their fluffy, cuddly appearance, they're actually tough as nails.

YouTube user Ashton Webster was out for a walk with his dogs in Victoria, Australia, recently when he happened upon a pair of koalas in the throes of a little tussle. Oblivious to presence of spectators, the two animals can be seen grappling like a couple of pros.

Koalas are territorial animals, so squabbles like this aren't uncommon, but they are rarely caught on camera.

The Dodo reached out to Olympic wrestling silver medalist Matt Lindland, now USA Wrestling's National Greco-Roman coach, to weigh in on the koalas' technical skills.

"This is what our sport is about. It's about showing strength and agility, who's got better skills, superior conditioning. The goal is to dominate, to put him on their back like the koala did," said Lindland. "I think they both did an outstanding job. If I had to give them a rating on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say they're at least 8 and above."

Olympic wrestling is still a human-only sport, but if that weren't the case, Lindland said he might even consider adding the koalas to the team.

"I think they would do very good in our program. They would do wonderful. I would definitely pick them up. I think as coaches, we like our beginners to go with their natural skills," he said.

"But you know, I need Americans, so they'd have to emigrate."
