It takes a good soul to save an animal's life, but a great one to save her for a lifetime.
On Friday, Officer John Passarella, from the New York Police Department, did both. He responded to a call that some less-caring folks might not have taken so seriously. A tiny stray kitten was heard crying from the inside of a mini van's engine block in Brooklyn's 60th Precinct, and needed a helping hand - and thankfully, he was more than happy to offer one.

"Police Officer Passarella first got down on his back and slid under the car, but he still could not reach the tiny kitten," the NYPD wrote on Facebook. "After a few attempts, and a few scratches, Police Officer Passarella fit his arm around a few belts and was able to reach the cat, pulling him out to safety"
But that was only the beginning of the story.

Passarella didn't just release the kitten back onto the streets, leaving her to fend for herself - he went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure she was rescued forever.
"[He] knew the cat was a stray and wanted to find him a home," writes the police department. "The kitten was adopted by another police officer, who gave it to her son. The little boy and the kitten, named "Pazzy" after Passarella, are now great friends."
