Missing Boy Survives Cold By Snuggling With His Dog

A 7-year-old boy who got lost and trapped behind some bushes over the weekend is now home safely, after surviving for hours in the freezing cold by snuggling with his dog. Dominic Jeffries, from Cordova, Tennessee, was out walking his dog, Coco, when both slipped behind a concrete wall and couldn't make their way back up. Dominic's legal guardian, Robbyne Manning, told ABC news that although police searched the area extensively, they simply couldn't see the boy or his dog.

Dominic was only a few blocks from home, but he was missing for approximately 14 hours during a cold night when the temperature dipped below freezing.

Manning said to keep warm, Dominic started to hug Coco, a black Shih Tzu. However as the night wore on, the dog started to get cold and Dominic took off his jacket to warm up the dog. Eventually worried that the dog would get too cold, Dominic took off her leash so that she would hopefully go home and get help.

Dominic remained in the cold for another three hours by himself before a police officer eventually spotted him. Both Dominic and Coco went to warm up at home by daybreak and are reportedly doing fine.
