With Dwyer's help, Daniel has become a spokes-dog of sorts, advocating for better treatment of shelter animals across the country -- particularly when it comes to inhumane methods of euthanasia. The Lucy Pet Foundation, an animal welfare group, has announced that Daniel will be one of several dogs to ride along their float in the Rose Parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena, California. Group director, Betsy Martin, says that Daniel's inspiring story will "help raise awareness" of how many animals in the U.S. a still being put down.
"We're really trying to stop the gas chamber in all states," she says.
