There are few creatures quite as cute as a pudgy baby manatee. This remarkable discovery, however, is doubly as adorable.

Gane Parker, a captain with Snorkel With Manatees, says that even after nearly 15 years in his career, this is the first time he's run across a mother calf with twins. Fortunately for the rest of us, his exciting encounter was captured on film.

"Oh my god! Holy... snikers," says Parker in the video. "I'm way too excited about this. This is way too cool. So rare that this wonderful mother manatee has got twins and taking such good care of them."

The rare discovery isn't only heartwarming, but it's heartening as well. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, manatees are a federally endangered species, numbering as few as 6,000 in the warm canals and waterways around Florida.
