Among the algae and floating liquor bottles, a young piglet tried to keep himself above the murky surface after falling into a well.
When rescuers from Animal Aid Unlimited in India arrived at the scene, the piglet was beginning to drown from exhaustion, and they needed to act quickly.
"He had been swimming in the cold water for we guess at least an hour and was giving up right before our eyes," the organization said in a Facebook post.
As one man put on a harness and began his descent toward the distressed piglet, the rest of the team remained at ground level to hold the rope.
In an urgent attempt to reach the drowning piglet, the man didn't hesitate to splash into the water and swim toward the piglet, who had already begun to sink a few times.
Once the man had the tiny piglet secured in his hands, the team above used the rope to hoist the two individuals out of the well.
In just a few short minutes, the piglet went from nearly succumbing to his own exhaustion to receiving a second chance at life.
After the rescue, the day only got better for this young piglet who received a warm hug while wrapped in a towel and was given a dish of yummy white slop, which seems to be a favorite of his.
