Life as a domestic cat can be rather predictable. You wake up, get fed, play with your owner and go to sleep. Repeat.

This is not the case for Monkey, a cat with an extraordinary owner. Inventor and "aspiring geek" Ben Millam wanted to engage Monkey's instinctive hunting skills before each meal, so he made the best gift a cat could get: a scavenger hunt machine.

Here's how it works.

First, Monkey has to find little white balls hidden around the house.

Once he finds one, he transports it back to the kitchen.

As if making an offering to the gods, Monkey drops the food into a shallow bowl.

The food gods hear his call, and the food is dispensed.

"Surely this would bring him one step closer towards a more fulfilled and self-actualized indoor kitty existence," writes Millam.

We all know how much more rewarding food tastes after a good, exhausting workout. It's safe to say that this kitty indeed lives a fulfilling and food-filled life.
