Man Could Have Ignored Lost Dog On Busy Road ... But He Didn't

Not everyone is kind enough to stop to help a lost dog, especially while driving along a busy road.

But this man did.

A YouTube user named WelshDrive was on his way to get his car fixed when he came across a dog lingering on the edge of the road, dangerously close to where a car could hit him.

"Of course going up to a stray dog is not recommended but the location and size of the dog meant it was only a matter of time before it got hit, possibly injuring people and killing the dog," WelshDrive wrote under the video.

The man temporarily left his car in the street to help slow traffic and got out to help the lost dog.

As soon as the dog saw the man, he ran into the road to greet him, even rolling onto his back to receive belly rubs. The friendly guy clearly loved people, a good hint that he had a family looking for him somewhere.

Other cars began approaching, and the dog turned to greet them before the man shepherded him to the side of the road - saving his life once again.

With the dog safely by the car, the man called the police to alert them of the situation.

While he was on the phone with them, the dog began to run away from the road and down a smaller road, and the man followed him.

He eventually led the man to his house, where the man was able to alert the family that their dog had gotten out, and return him safe and sound.

If user WelshDrive hadn't stopped and instead had just kept on driving, the curious dog likely would have been hit by an oncoming car. It just goes to show that a small, simple act of kindness can go such a long way.

"If you take anything away from this video please let it be, treat animals as you would treat humans, they have every right to live and be treated well just the same as you and I," User WelshDrive wrote. "If you see a dog running loose on the road don't ignore him, be that guy/girl and save him, it really doesn't take much."
