A baby northern fur seal made a wrong turn one day and ended up a tad far from home - in the middle of someone's backyard in Fremont, California.
The Fremont Police Department responded to the call about the lost baby seal and took her in while they waited for the Marine Mammal Center to arrive and take over. They nicknamed her Ozzie, and the wayward traveler quickly captured everyone's hearts.
As it turns out, the Marine Mammal Center already knew the seal pup quite well. Her real name is Kumofur, and she had been rescued last November.
Kumofur was released into Bodega Bay earlier this month in hopes that she would head north to Alaska - but clearly the sweet little pup had other plans. Instead of heading north, she headed south and got herself entirely lost.
"We're pretty sure Kumofur learned about all of the great things happening in Fremont and had to come check it out for herself," the Fremont Police Department wrote on its Facebook page. "We feel pretty lucky that we had the opportunity to meet this pup and wish her a long and healthy life!"
Clearly Kumofur is just a little adventurer and couldn't resist taking a wrong turn. Hopefully her thirst for adventure has been quenched and she'll be back on her way home soon!
