Shelter Dog Is So Depressed He Can Barely Lift His Head

After weeks of waiting for a hero, a lonely dog named Fox seems to know that time is running out.

Believed to be about 3 years old, the dog at Miami-Dade Animal Shelter has been looking for a new home since Christmas day. Now, according to one volunteer, the Labrador/Retriever mix is simply "shutting down."

"He spends his days and nights depressed and lonely, hoping that every pair of eyes that pass his kennel happen to notice him but no one does," wrote Katia Leon on a picture captioned "LAST CALL" on Facebook. "Fox is becoming so depressed that he barely even wanted to lift his head for his photo."

But while Fox's situation is desperate, the lonesome pup hasn't given up completely yet.

"He gently took a treat from our hand and gave us a little nuzzle," writes Leon. "He still has hope left behind those sad eyes!"
