We all eventually become our mothers.

While many humans resent the adage, one young grizzly bear cub has no shame following in her mother's footsteps.

When watching her mother prepare to fight an approaching female bear at Katmai National Park & Preserve in Alaska, a cub decides to copy her mother's fierce reaction and step in to fight. A video posted Monday shows the young bear mimicking her mother's defensive body language, growling at her opponent.

"Cubs often mimic the behavior of their mothers," the park wrote in the video's caption. "This is one way they learn important survival skills. They eat what mom eats, investigate what mom investigates, and may copy her actions around other bears."

Not many dare to get between a grizzly cub and her mother, who are notoriously protective of their young.

This mother bear pushed her eager cub back before she was in any danger. But the cub wasn't discouraged. Even after her mother chases the other female bear back into the river, the young cub was hot to follow: standing on her hind legs in excitement.

Someday, grizzly cub, you'll be able to do all the things grown-up bears can do. You'll roar, catch salmon and even protect your own cubs, just like your mother. But until that day, little one, there are still some things that mother does best.
