Man Hears Someone Crying And Jumps Down A Storm Drain
On a Sunday afternoon, customers walking through a parking lot heard something very strange - faint, desperate crying. They soon realized that it was coming from a storm drain ... and that a poor baby animal was trapped down there.
David Loop of Sierra Pacific FurBabies arrived at 1:30 p.m. that day, to begin what would turn into a 33-hour long rescue.
Loop lowered himself into the storm drain to try and investigate the situation, but couldn't see the trapped little guy - what sounded like a tiny kitten crying out for help could only be heard. It was determined that the baby had gotten himself stuck in an 8-inch pipe, and there was very little access to try and get him out.
For a while, rescuers were worried that the rescue mission might be a lost cause - that the poor kitten might be stuck down there forever.
The next day, All American Plumbing was called and the mission continued. At one point a camera was lowered into the pipe ... and then everyone caught a glimpse of the trapped kitten for the first time.
After that, there was no turning back. Everyone was determined to get the kitten out of the pipe and up to safety.
Rescuers worked endlessly for the entire day trying to free the trapped kitten. Finally, at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, the little kitten was finally freed from his dark, confining prison and brought into the arms of dozens of rescuers who already loved him.
After his incredibly long journey, everyone could think of only one fitting name for the little guy: Piper.
After being trapped for so long, you would think that Piper would need some time to heal and regroup ...
But it wasn't long at all before the kitten began showing off his true, playful self ...
... and what a wonderful little kitten he turned out to be!
Piper has since been checked out by a vet and received a clean bill of health, and is staying with Loop while he gains his strength back.
"I wonder if he knows how lucky he is, how many people banded together and fought for him," Loop said in a video about Piper's rescue.
"...I think he does," Loop said.
