Don't you wish every company could have a "bring your dog to work" policy? While a handful of jobs are letting their employees bring their furry friends to work, most of us don't have that luxury. While it's hard to say goodbye to your pet every morning, we have a few tips to make their day a little bit better while you're away (and give you some peace of mind that they aren't staying occupied by ripping apart your pillows).
Create a cozy sleeping area
Dogs like to sleep, a lot. In fact, large breeds can sleep up to 18 hours a day! While they may choose a few select areas of your home to catch their zzz's, it's important for your dog to have a bed, or plush blanket (or both). This gives them a sense of their own space, and can also be comforting if they start to feel any anxiety. You can even add an article of clothing to your dog's bed, as an owner's scent can be very soothing!
Keep toys handy
Have you ever noticed a toy will keep your dog occupied for hours? When picking toys, select ones that are safe, durable, and even some that dispense treats to reward your dog for good behavior while you're away. It's also a good idea to keep a few dog toys in a basket where they can easily grab them, and rotate the toys out every few weeks to keep the dog excited about them.
