While July 4th is mostly known for patriotic celebrations, the holiday can also pose a potential risk for pets. In fact, nearly one-in-five lost pets go missing after being scared by the sound of fireworks, thunderstorms and other loud noises.
To help prevent your pet from fleeing -- as well as recovering those who have gone lost -- the ASPCA has designed our first-ever interactive mobile app focusing on the prevention and retrieval of lost pets.
Developed by the ASPCA utilizing the latest field research, this groundbreaking new tool provides pet owners with a missing pet recovery kit that includes step-by-step instructions and resources tailored to unique circumstances and each pet's individual personality. For example, did you know that a sociable cat may be found in a different location than a shy, timid cat? This app offers detailed tricks, tips, and digital tools to help search for and recover your missing pet based on their behavior and surroundings.
The app also allows users to store vital medical records and access life-saving information for use during natural disasters. Even with no data connectivity, pet parents will be able to ensure their pets' safety before, during and after major storms or disasters.
The ASPCA app can be downloaded for free on the App Store for iPhone devices and on Google Play for Android devices.
