A strong snapping turtle has returned to the wild after being run over by a car in New Jersey last month. Unfortunately for the turtle, the highway he crossed didn't have the lovely "turtle crossing" markers that keep so many reptiles safe; he was struck by a vehicle and suffered facial trauma as well as a cracked shell. Thankfully, though, he was discovered by police officers, who brought him to a nearby animal clinic.
The turtle received treatment for his facial wounds and had his shell bonded back together with a strong epoxy. He was released to the same stream he tried to reach by crossing the road.
