As many people know, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) was founded in 1969 to end the commercial seal hunt in Canada, and cameras, documenting the inherent cruelty of the commercial hunt, have been an essential tool of the campaign.
Historically sealing was considered a respectable job, even heroic, until people witnessed it in their living rooms for the first time: graphic images too sensitive for most. Appalled by what he saw, a charismatic young activist named Brian Davies set out on a personal crusade to save the seals. Little did he know the battle would dominate decades of his life.

Narrated by actor Ryan Reynolds, Huntwatch is a 90-minute film that chronicles the international debate from its inception to the present. It features dramatic footage of Canadian landscapes, seals in the wild, historical footage of the Canadian commercial seal hunt and conflict on the ice, as well as interviews with IFAW founder Davies, politicians, and campaigners from throughout the decades-long struggle to end the hunt.
