How Police In Costa Rica Rescued A Truck Full Of Endangered Snapper Turtles

Costa Rican officials, notorious for being tough on wildlife crime, apprehended two men attempting to smuggle a truck full of snapper turtles on Thursday -- just in time for World Turtle Day. The alleged smuggler, a Chinese citizen named Huanqiao, reportedly told the man driving the truck that he was transporting crabs. In reality, the truck was packed with 18 snappers, a species considered endangered in Costa Rica. The turtles have been turned over to the environment ministry and will be re-released into the wild.
