An incredible video shows a spunky hare taking on an avalanche - and guess who wins.

Helipro, a winter sports company, was filming a snowboarding video in Kamchatka, Russia, when a hare unexpectedly shot right into an oncoming avalanche.

The cameras kept rolling as the little hare struggled across the avalanche, at one point seemingly sinking below the surface only to rise back up again and continue his charge across the churning snow.

Of course, running into avalanches is hardly normal behavior for hares - which makes the footage all the more impressive.

Dana Krempels, a lecturer in biology at the University of Miami who studies rabbits and hares, told The Dodo that she had no idea why the hare would decide to charge at an avalanche but echoed Helipro's assurances that he likely walked away just fine.

"I don't think he got severely beat up," Krempels explained. "I think as long as you're not buried in the snow, you have a good chance of being just fine caught in a snowfall like that."

"Those big feet sure came in handy," she added.

While many people have referred to the feisty little animal as a rabbit, Krempels said that he was likely a mountain hare. Latin name? Lepus timidus.
