Divers Stumble Into Stupefying Cloud Of Rare Hammerhead Sharks
It's no secret that the Galapagos Islands are home to a stupefying amount of rare species. That's what a group of divers was expecting when they descended into a reef off Wolf Island in the far northwest corner of the Galapagos.
They spied one scalloped hammerhead shark - already a prized sighting, given that the species is considered endangered by the IUCN Red List.
Lo and behold, another! A good dive by all accounts.
And then – the motherlode. A massive swarm of sharks swam right by the divers, giving them a breathtaking view.
