Goose With Broken Wing Learns To Fly Again
When a Canadian goose with a shattered wing was found and rescued by Wildlife Aid Foundation (WAF) on the busy M25 motorway in London, it was unclear what the goose's future would be. Would he recover fully? Would he ever be able to fly again? Nothing was certain, as the poor bird's wing was so mangled.
A few months later, the goose had recovered and was ready for his reintroduction into the wild, but it was still unclear as to whether or not he would be able to fly. The goose was living at the WAF headquarters in Surrey, U.K., in his own outdoor enclosure. It had been his home while he was on the mend, but now it was time to return to his true home. However, when founder Simon Cowell attempted to herd the goose into his carrier for transport, the bird surprised everyone - by flying across his enclosure!
Everyone was astounded that the bird had made an amazing recovery after such a severe injury. This definitely boded well for his rerelease.
However, the goose wasn't too keen on getting into his carrier, and made his position clear by hissing at Simon and swimming away - as far as his pool would allow, anyway.
Eventually, Simon managed to coax the goose into the transport carrier, and the fussy bird was on his way to a healthy new life.
Upon arriving at a picturesque country lake, the goose exited his carrier with enthusiasm, taking in his new home. With his hisses and stomping, he certainly made a grand entrance!
The goose immediately took to the water with ease, as though he had never been away from the wild.
The bird's amazing recovery after such trying circumstances reassured WAF workers that he would be just fine in his new surroundings.
