Why must we look after our animals?
Cristiano (4-years old): Because I don't want them to be killed.

An international Global March for Rhinos and Elephants will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3 and 4, 2015. This march is held to bring awareness to the public of the sad reality that these animals are close to extinction due to poaching.

For the past two years, our school - Kandies Kids - has taken part in an annual march with about 150 pupils of all different genders, ages and cultures involved. Our children are very passionate about this initiative and all get actively involved. They make elephant and rhino masks and posters and march up and down the Kandies Kids driveway to raise awareness.

This year our school took part in this annual March on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 9:00 a.m. at the Kandies Kids Learn and Play Center.

It is up to us as teachers, to teach the next generations the importance of wildlife and the reasons why we must protect them. We all need to play a role in preventing the extinction of these precious animals, to ensure that our children's children will be able to experience and appreciate these majestic creatures in the wild rather than just in books and pictures.

Below are some thoughts on protecting our wildlife from our special little ones:
Why must we look after our animals?
Cristiano (4-years old): Because I don't want them to be killed.
Why must we protect our wildlife?
Skyla (4-years old): Because there are bad guys who scare them.
Why must we prevent people from hurting our elephants and rhinos?
Thashmika (4-years old): Because there are dangerous and evil people who want to destroy them.
