Call it a Freudian slip - Emma Freud, the great-granddaughter of the famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, is in hot water after renting a basket of puppies for a party she hosted at her home.

The 53-year-old self-described script editor and producer tweeted out a picture this week from a bachelorette party she hosted at her home, apparently captioned, "Rented 2 topless men and a basket of puppies for the afternoon. #win." The Daily Mail reported on the tweet and the ensuing backlash from appalled animal lovers.

While Freud has since deleted the original tweet, she addressed the controversy Tuesday by retweeting the Daily Mail article:

Freud is a pet owner: her Instagram account boasts that she has "Two cats, a dog, 11 fish, 2 guinea pigs, 2 baby rabbits and 4 children," but renting a basket of puppies for entertainment represents a casual lack of care for the welfare of the little critters - who were likely confused about why they wound up at a stranger's party.

We'll chalk this up to a misguided mistake on Freud's part - maybe next time she hosts a party she'll invite some adoptable rescues and give them a chance to find new families!
