The planning of this year's Olympic Games has been criticized from the start, including the way they dealt with stray dogs. After a company was contracted to exterminate the animals with traps and poison, many cried foul, saying that the city should have implemented better spay and neuter programs, and provided shelters for the pups, rather than killing them.
The ski dog's appearance was trumped only by another stray who wandered into the stadium during the opening ceremonies, astounding spectators before he was shooed away. From both of these incidents, it's clear that Sochi's dogs are nearly as determined as the athletes.
