A dog who was stolen from his owner more than five years ago will return home this weekend. Prince Henry, a schnauzer from San Antonio, was visiting Houston with his owner when someone broke into his owner's car and took him. It's unclear whether anyone continued to care for Prince Henry after he was stolen, as he was discovered roaming the streets by himself earlier this week.
Stephen and Allie Collins, the couple who found Prince Henry, told KHOU they think the dog was living as a stray for some of the time he was missing. They brought him to a nearby vet for a check-up after the found him wandering down their street, only to learn that Prince Henry had a microchip, which allowed them to contact his original owner, David McCary.
"You can only imagine what it was like to get that call today," McCary said. "It brought tears to your eyes and it's just the most warm, heartfelt moment you can have."
