Let the rematch begin.
ROUND 1: Solitary vs. social lifestyle
Household cats are descendants of solitary hunters, so it makes sense that their human counterparts tend to live more independent lives. Compared to dog people, cat people are one-third more likely to live alone. Being independent is great and all, but life can get lonely oh-so-quickly.
"I tell myself that I like being lonely ... I mean alone."

While a cat may prefer to be alone, canines are more social than cats. Fittingly, dog people are more social than cat people, and they tend to do better with people around.

... and why they may look like this when they see their friend.

ROUND 2: Where you mark your territory
Dog people know how to enjoy the warm weather. In the United States, dogs are more popular in the southern states. Texas, the state where everything's bigger, has the biggest dog population, at a whopping 7.2 million dogs. Being in a warmer climate gives both dogs and their owners a chance to step outside and enjoy the fresh air.
This is after seven previous loops around the backyard.

ROUND 3: Who really has the brains?

The question of whether dog people or cat people are smarter than the other is still up for debate, but when we're comparing the intelligence of the animals themselves, it's not much of a contest. Social animals such as dogs learn through socializing and have "undergone much more rapid increases (in brain size across history) than more solitary species," says Susanne Shultz, Ph.D., the lead author of this Oxford University study.
This is what healthy social interaction looks like to a dog person.

Dog People: 3, Cat People: still nothing
ROUND 4: The pet-owner relationship

Dog owners might occasionally use peanut butter in order to laugh at the expense of their dog ...

... but you know when a dog and a dog person are together, they bring out the best in each other.

Dog People: 4, Cat People: Want to be a dog person yet?
ROUND 5: And if you're still not convinced ...
Of the cat owners asked if they'd take a puppy as a gift (granted they had ample living space and no complaints from other people in their life), 68 percent responded that they wouldn't accept a dog. Compare this number to 70 percent of dog owners who would take in a cat.
Isn't the ability to love both animals the greatest strength of all?
Dog People: 5, Cat People: Get a dog!

Final Score: Dog people win. Cat people lose.
There you have it. Cat people love cats. Dog people have a deeper kind of love: a love for both dogs and cats. Dog people win.* *According to a biased dog lover Are you a cat person or a dog person? The Dodo loves both!
