Shelter Dog Learns To Smile At People Who Walk By

She is so ready to get adopted.

Riley was brought into Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento, California, at the end of December by a homeless person who found her wandering the streets all alone.

This sweet 2-year-old dog is incredibly social, and loves every dog and person she meets. The staff at the shelter desperately want to help Riley find a loving home, so one of them came up with an idea.

"My kennel technician, Britney Ridge, fell in love with her personality and for whatever reason thought that Riley was one of those dogs that could smile," Gina Knepp of Front Street Animal Shelter told The Dodo. "So every day during feeding and cleaning, they would talk to each other."

As it turns out, Ridge was absolutely right - Riley can smile, and it's the sweetest thing ever.

"Britney whipped out her phone to capture that quirky sweet smile and magic happened," Knepp said.

With a smile like that, I'm sure little miss Riley will find herself with a brand new family very, very soon.
