Dog Elected Mayor Of Colorado Town

The town of Divide historically hasn't had a mayor, but as of Wednesday, it does. He's a bloodhound.

Divide's close mayoral race was actually part of a fundraiser put on by the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter, which holds a "special election" every other year to put an animal in the mayor's residence -- or just in a new home. This year's election brought in over $12,000 for the shelter, which relies heavily on donations.

The new mayor, Pa Kettle, beat out several other contenders, including Buster the Cat, the frontrunner for the past several weeks. The bloodhound succeeds a three-legged cat as mayor and will hold his post for the next two years.
